I have yet to work my way through all the recipes. My desire list is long but time short. However your tea loaf recipe has become my absolute staple favourite. Perfect with a cup of tea but I have to confess that it has been know to have also been toasted, slathered in butter and served with scrambled eggs for breakfast.......not even ashamed 🤣🤣

I know it’s traditionally more of a southern Irish thing but have you ever made a coddle? I did one a few weeks back and it was so good! It was so simple ingredients wise that I just couldn’t see how it would be good but I actually keep craving it now 🤣.

I haven't made one but it's on the list, not sure what my Granda's reaction would be to it haha!

😂 No doubt you would get grief but you’d be worried if you didn’t! I made it mostly out of curiosity as it isn’t visually the most appealing meal, but it’s one of my favourite things I’ve made recently. Mine wasn’t a true Dublin coddle though as I saw someone add white pudding to theirs rather than add seasonings which we don’t get down here so I added half a haggis instead and that was definitely a great addition and with that and the bacon you definitely don’t need anymore salt! I would just recommend browning off your sausages first or you may get accused of making Alfie a “whole mess of sausages” again 🤣.

Haha, well make sure you film it if you do and I know I said to brown the sausages but maybe don’t, just for the comedy value! 🤣

One thing I have to constantly remind myself is “Don’t let perfection prohibit progress”. I always want thinks to be perfect but have to remember sometimes better is good enough, for now.

Love that mate, it's something I really need to adopt. We can be guilty of not noticing how far we've come. One step forward is progress and they all add up!

Afternoon all I hope you’re all ok and your Mondays haven’t been too Monday’ish. I’ve had the day off work today and intended to do something productive but instead ending up just having a quick trip out to one of my happy places (M&S food hall 🤣) and then not doing much else. I really struggle with this time of year, I had quite a busy summer and spent a lot of time in London with my brother and his girlfriend and now things are slowing down and I don’t have much planned between now and Christmas I’m feeling a bit meh, I know it will pass but sometimes it’s just hard to shake it. Anyway going to attempt to G myself up a bit by TRYING to run! Also attached a picture of the makings of my M&S “girl dinner” (plus feeding my dad as well), as much as I love cooking I also love a good sandwich! ☺️❤️.

Hey Nikki, thank you for sharing! If you ask me that's a productive day in so many ways. It's your day off and you took time to reset. There's nothing better than a wee trip to M&S and that spread looks delicious. This time of year can be tricky with the weather and life taking a different pace. I always try to use it to work on myself, the not so fancy parts people don't see. I hope the run went well, it always helps me. I hope you took a snap of your sandwich creation? There's nothing better for lunch at times!

Thanks Jonny. It’s like you have said before it’s hard sometimes to remember how far we’ve come and not feel like we always need to be doing more or keeping up with other people. I’ve had similar struggles to you and I try to remember that the me this time last year and even the few years before that would be so happy and proud of me now for overcoming things and getting myself to a better place, so we just have to keep going and trust the process even if I do feel a bit stuck in a rut at the moment. I imagine our versions of running are very different as you’re actually fit! Haha, but I’m trying and always feel good for getting some music on and moving. It was actually a sandwich for tea/dinner as I feed my dad as well and he’d been out for lunch so it was one time I could get away with it with him not being that hungry 🤣 but you can’t go wrong either way. Typically the one time I didn’t actually take a photo of my food 🤣 but it was good!

Exactly Nikki, sometime we need to take a step back and reflect. Every wee milestone and step forward are progress! I'm guilty of not doing it but we're all here to remind and help each other along. Running and training is all relative, there's plenty you'll be better than me at. Next time I hope there's a tasty sandwich pic! Have a great day Nikki and be proud of that mindset you have!

200 recipes is a lot! It really worries me the glorification of work in our culture. It’s something that has intensified in recent times and it’s not good for us. Hard work can be rewarding but not when time to eat well, look after our family and friends and take time to enjoy what makes us happy. The food industry tries to convince us that fast is best but we know that’s not necessarily true. Your approach is good. Cooking together in our homes, good food locally available, don’t doubt yourself, we are all here to be part of your mission!

Sarah those words mean so much and thank you! It's so true in all walks of life. We all need too slow down and savour the special moments that would otherwise fly by! I pushed myself too far but I know it was needed. I wanted to create this space for what will be a special wee community that we have. Food can be used in the centre of it all to bring us together because the best memories are made over it. Thank you for all the support!

I hope you can find a better balance for yourself now Jonny, you should always be your number one priority. I personally have not had a good year so at times ive struggled as ive had life changing events including losing my wonderful Mum on boxing day then being made redundant in the Summer and thrown into the mix my Husband hasn't been well. Your posts have helped along with baking as its been a brilliant therapy so im hoping as next year approaches I'll turn a corner and have less struggles and no more major changes. Thank you for this brilliant website and I wish you much success as it's very much deserved x

Balance is key for us all Amanda it's so true! You've really had a tough year and I'm certain it will improve. The fact you are still positive really shows the strength you have! Honestly, those tough times as horrendous as they are make us better in so many ways. It's about viewing it in the right way and you are doing that in bucket loads. Thank you for sharing and I'm delighted what I'm doing is helping in some small way!
