Step 1
Add your self-raising flour, caster sugar, salt and baking powder to a bowl and whisk these together. Create a well in the middle and pour your eggs in along with 1/2 of your milk. Gently whisk these together, it will be quite clumpy at the this stage. Gradually add the remainder of your milk combining between each addition. You want to get a thick, smooth batter. You may not need all of the milk but it took it all for me.

What would happen of I substitute whole milk for buttermilk which I bought to use for pancakes

Hi Judith, I would use buttermilk as well at times. It will just give it a deeper flavour and if anything make them slightly thicker and fluffier ππ»

Well they were really good ! Although I only had a half teaspoon of baking powder left !π€£π€£ I think they turned out fine. Golden syrup for me and some had lemon and sugar. And maple syrup for the rest! Made loads too all eaten!

Hi Anne, I would make them fresh for them if you can? They're always best hot of the griddle or pan π€€ The fact they have no preservatives, etc, they won't last as long. But the day or two after you heat them up or toast them, they'll still be great ππ»

Hi Roberta, of course ππ» We would use it quite a bit but went with whole milk for this recipe. As some people don't have access to it unfortunately.
