Nanny's Crème Brûlée

We were a bit nervous about this one because in our heads it was going to be difficult. But honestly it’s so simple to make and delicious. It has that smooth rich custard filling with a delicious sweet, crisp top. My wee sister's boyfriend Davy loves this and it was a treat for him. That's the beauty of cooking and baking, you create something to share with others. When they tuck in and love it, it only brings joy and happiness.

Method

Turn cooking mode on

Step 1

Get your double cream and whole milk poured into a saucepan. Cut your vanilla pod in half, scraping the seeds into the saucepan and add the exterior pod as well. Give it a wee whisk and place over a medium heat. Bring it up to the point were it just starts to simmer, gently stirring every so often. Just as it starts to simmer and steam, knock off the heat and place your lid on. Allow that to sit for at least 30 minutes to gently cool and infuse.
