Homemade Strawberry Jam

For as long as I can remember, the only jam in our house was this. If you haven’t had homemade jam before I hope things are going to change now. The difference in tasty is incomparable, even to the fancy ones you get in the shop. The fruit flavour and sweetness is on an other level and worth the small bit of effort to make. I have fond memories making batches of this with my Nanny. It's that good my wee sister refuses to have any other type of jam. Trust me, once you make this you'll never look back.

Step 1

Add your strawberries to a large pot, softening them down and bringing to a boil for 10 minutes. If there's any white scum forming on top just remove this with your wooden spoon.

I’d love to make jam but I’m rubbish at it, I never get the plate thing right, or the temperature. Same as millionaires shortbread I never get the toffee.

Trust me Lisanne, your'e more than capable 🙌🏻 If i can do it anyone can 😄 With the jam a wee thermometer is a great help if you struggle. With the caramel squares you really need to simmer that caramel for a while, you will want a deep golden brown colour. If you follow the recipe on here you should be good 😊

Hi Sinead, it should roughly give you three 450g sized jars of jam. Really just depends on what sized jars you have lying about 👍🏻 Just store it in a cool, dry and dark place. We would keep it in a box in the garage!
