Barmbrack

Barmbrack is one of those recipes I thought was old and no fun as a child. I'd turn my nose up at it without even trying any, but never judge a book by it's cover. It's packed with flavour and sweetness from all the fruit, which is tied in nicely with the added spices. I now know what all the fuss is about, especially when it's plastered in butter and accompanied with a cuppa tae!

Step 1

Get your raisins and currants into a large bowl and pour in your strong tea. Give this a mix together and cover this with clingfilm, allowing to soak overnight. This will make your dried fruit nicely plump and juicy.
