Shepherd's Pie

Nothing beats a good hearty Shepherd's Pie when it's cold out. There's been a real nip in the air recently and this one really did the business. It's packed full of goodness and flavour, just what you want. I went with a mix of lamb and beef mince and it was the perfect combination. You could eat it by the bucket load if you ask me and that's always a good sign. Plate it up with your favourite vegetables and you've the best comfort dish going.

Step 1

Add your beef and lamb mince to a bowl, along with a tbsp of your oil and mix together. Get your pot over a medium to high heat and brown your mince off until cooked. Remove the mince into a separate bowl and set aside.

Can’t wait to give this a try, what red wine would you recommend?

Love to hear that Lewis 🙌🏻 You'll love it mate 🤤 Pretty sure we used a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, but honestly any red wine should do the trick 👍🏻

This was absolutely delicious! Had family to stay and we all agreed that it was the best shepherds pie we’d ever eaten. And even better the following day. Can’t remember what your grandad gave it Jonny, but it was an 11/10 for us! 😊

Absolutely delighted to hear Claire 😄 It honestly brings me so much joy when people are enjoying the recipes and they are a hit 🙌🏻 Agreed, it's a bit like a lasagne, always better the next day 🤤

Is this correct ingredients for 1 person, seems a lot. Every time I increase to more than 1 person the ingredients increase

Hi Susan, the quantity is for one pie 🙌🏻 It would serve about 4-6, depending on how hungry you all are 😅

I think you could use any meat mince actually, I might have to give a few variations a try Zoe 🙌🏻 Delighted to hear that and it looks delicious 🤤

Staple dinner that tastes even better the next day... I don't usually prepare it with red wine, but it added a really nice depth of flavor. Recipe calls for mushrooms, but the directions and video didn't reference them at all. Might sneak them in next time and see if it works!

Delighted you enjoyed it Janis 😄 I must have made a mistake when typing, I'll try to edit that. My little sister hates mushrooms so that's maybe why 😂 I on the other hand love them 🤤
