Nanny’s Light Chocolate Cake

This is our wee light chocolate sponge cake. As long as I can remember my Nanny made this every weekend, one for her house and one for ours. That's one of the main reasons I love cooking and baking so much, you get to share the enjoyment with others. According to my Granda ye could have it for the breakfast as well 😂

I made this and the cakes didn't rise. Any ideas to why?

Not sure what's happened there Cheryl. A few things I can think of would be, did you use the correct ingredients or use any alternatives? Be very gentle when folding in the dry ingredients. When baking don't open the oven door until almost finished. When you open the door to early it can knock all the air and rise from your sponges. I hope this helps🤞🏻
