Vanilla Custard Slice

These are a bit of me and were a regular weekend treat growing up. Delicious creamy custard in the centre and buttery puff pastry wrapped round it. It's a combination I'll never get tired of and I could eat them until the cows come home. They're so simple to rustle up and a bit of a cheat recipe in my opinion, yet taste unbelievable. All you need is a lovely brewed coffee to wash it down with, so get brewing.

Step 1

Grab your two rolls of puff pastry, rolling onto baking trays with some greaseproof paper. Prick these all over with a fork and follow the instructions on the packet on how to bake. This can differ between brands but essentially you want them to become flaky and have a slight golden brown on top. Set them aside and allow to cool fully on the trays.
